To all those who are interested in the history and traditions of Unken and the entire Salzburg Saalach Valley, we strongly recommend making a visit to the 13th-century fortress on the Kniepass.
Special exhibitions are regularly on display within its ancient walls, generally revolving around traditions and artistic forms of centuries past.
Also well worth seeing: The Kalchofengut, a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, home since the mid 80’s to a heritage museum and many examples of our rich farming culture. If you wish to enjoy the pristine natural setting of the Unken countryside, you should definitely experience the untamed beauty of the Innersbach and Schwarzberg Gorges.
Of course, culture aficionados will not want to miss out on Salzburg City. This “City of Mozart”, along with the stunning beauty of Austria’s own “Holy Land” - Tyrol, both lie only a short drive from Unken.
